Jennifer Ringley was the internet’s first camgirl. And then she disappeared.

In 1996, 19-year old Jennifer Kaye Ringley was a student at Dickson College in Pennsylvania when she purchased a webcam and put it up in her room, where internet users could see a stream of continually updated screenshots of her dorm room.
