Marilyn Monroe reading Arthur Miller’s An Enemy of the People in 1951. She first met Arthur on the set of As Young As You Feel and during a trip to a bookstore, he introduced her to some of his work. She added Death of a Salesman to the pile of books she was going to buy. Arthur recalled her gushing over how much she loved poetry and said, “It was odd to watch her read E. E. Cummings to herself, moving her lips – what would she make of poetry that was so simple and yet so sophisticated.”
