Cruising Southern California in the ’70s
Growing up in Southern California during the ’70s there was no shortage of cruising spots to roll onto any given Friday or Saturday night. I’m
Brockway Motor Company was a builder of custom heavy-duty trucks in Cortland, New York, from 1912 to 1977. The company started out as Brockway Carriage Works in 1875 by William Brockway. His son, George Brockway, later turned the carriage building firm into a truck manufacturer in 1909. The first trucks were carriage-based high-wheelers, but Brockway quickly evolved their line and proved themselves as innovators in the heavy truck market. The company’s beginning is widely recognized as the 1912 incorporation of the Brockway Motor Truck Company. Brockway enjoyed a first-rate reputation in the industry and their customer loyalty shown by repeat buyers was the best in the industry. A big part of the attraction was Brockway’s conservatism. Their reluctance to change specs appealed to the sort of customer who bought these units. Consistent and unchanging specs vastly simplified parts and servicing. Fleet operators with big shops and parts departments of their own knew that new models wouldn’t make their inventories obsolete, making them popular with municipalities throughout the Northeast. Similarly, mechanics found the latest Brockways not much different from the old, making them popular with the folks who maintained these rigs.
Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature ‘relic-ing’ process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on super-soft Gildan 18500 hoodies via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can’t be accomplished with other printing methods. With a large front pouch pocket and drawstrings in a matching color, this hoodie is soft, stylish, and a perfect mid-weight for laying in cooler weather or keeping the chill off during summer nights at the beach.
Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current sweatshirts, laying it flat, and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the hoodie laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the sweatshirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam.
