Cadet Bluejackets Training Corps 1936 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

The awkwardly named Corps of Naval Cadets of the Bluejackets Guard USA was founded on November 1, 1936 by Captain Frank W. Rice in New York City. In addition to acting as Commandant of the Bluejackets, Captain Rice was also the Director of the organization’s Camp Alert Summer Naval Camp. Not unlike scouting type groups around the country, the Bluejackets started as an all-boys youth cadet organization that instilled honor, loyalty, and discipline, with a focus on naval, military, and maritime related activities. During the mid ’40s, girls became members with the creation of the Marinette Division of the Guard. All told, the program was wildly successful, with thousands of graduates over the program’s 61-year run, and an average of 18% of cadets moving on to military service.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
