Computer Image Corporation 1960 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

Founded in Denver, Colorado in 1960 by Lee Harrison, Computer Image Corporation (CIC) was in the business of making analog computer graphics in the early ’70s. These unique machines included the Animac, CAESAR, and Scanimate graphics systems, though it’s without question that Scanimate that is Harrison’s crowing achievement. As the final and most advanced system created by CIC, Scanimate was an analog computer animation system (video synthesizer) created in 1969. Scanimates were used to produce a significant portion of the video-based animation seen in TV commercials, show titles, and other graphics. Since they could create animations in real time, this helped the system to supersede film-based animation techniques for television graphics, and from the early ’70s to early ’80s, all eight Scanimates that were created were in use in Japan, Australia, Luxembourg, London, New York, Hollywood, and Denver. The systems were also used in films, however, by the mid-’80s Scanimate was superseded by digital computer animation, which produced sharper images and more sophisticated imagery. Despite what may seem like a relatively short run, Scanimates changed video animation production in a huge way, so much so, that Lee Harrison received the first ever Emmy Award for “Technical Achievement” in 1973 for his work with analog computer graphics in television.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
