George Lutz Surveyors was a New York-based land surveying company owned by George Lee Lutz. Mr. Lutz became famous after moving his new bride and three children into a three-story colonial home in the village of Amityville, a suburb of Long Island, New York in 1975. About a year earlier, six members of the DeFeo family had been shot and killed in the Lutz’s new house. Ronald DeFeo, the eldest son, was convicted of the murders. The Lutzes lived in the house for just 28 days before being driven out by demonic spirits and would later be the subject of Jay Anson’s 1977 book, The Amityville Horror, with a 1979 film of the same name.
