At first glance, the traditional Chinese pagoda facade didn’t speak much to revelry, but once inside, namely in the downstairs bar, it was a totally different story. At Hop Louie, the Chinese lanterns and a lacquered bar top gave way to the old school charm of the oldies-playing jukebox, low lights, and cheap, stiff drinks. You knew that you were without question in a great dive bar, but this one just happened to serve some of the best Chinese food in Los Angeles. The restaurant opened as Golden Pagoda (the name changed in 1985) a couple of years after “New Chinatown” was built in 1938. The five-story, neon-lined tower was modeled on the famous Summer Palace in Beijing and attracted not only hungry tourists but also innumerable movie and TV productions, which left behind autographed photos that lined the main staircase.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
