Laredo Filter Blend 1971 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

Laredo Filter Blend was a roll your own tobacco kit introduced in the early 1970s. It was sold with the slogan, “If you want something done right, do it yourself.” The kit consisted of a tin of tobacco, a plastic cigarette-making device, and loose cigarette papers and filters. The Laredo brand tobacco and a filter were inserted into the device, and then a lever was pulled to compress the tobacco. Another lever slid the plug of tobacco and the filter into an empty cigarette paper tube to form a homemade cigarette. Although the gimmick was hailed as being innovative for its time, the tobacco itself was criticized for being bland and the devices had a tendency to jam. According to one smoker, “Invariably, the tobacco wouldn’t distribute consistently, so every cigarette was different – but always bad. Some were so tightly stuffed that there was no way to draw, and some were so loose that they tended to go up in flames (or the tobacco just fell out).” The product was eventually discontinued.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
