Most Canadian potatoes are grown in the Atlantic Region, with Prince Edward Island being one of the largest concentrations of growers. Head across Northumberland Strait to Nova Scotia, and you’ll find lots of independent growers like MacDonald Farms in Colchester who has been harvesting russet, red, white and yellow potatoes since 1947. Made of burlap and capable of holding upwards of 150 pounds, potato sacks were a cost-effective way for farmers to get their crop to market in style, making potato sacks an unsung hero of the produce industry. Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature ‘relic-ing’ process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on our own exclusive tote bags which are cut and sewn after printing via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can’t be accomplished with other printing methods.
