Malibu Grand Prix 1975 Vintage Kid’s T-Shirt

Malibu Grand Prix is an entertainment company that was popular during the 1970s and 1980s as a franchised go-kart racing track in the United States. The typical complex included a 10,000 to 20,000 sq. ft. outdoor racetrack coupled with a 3000-4000 sq ft. arcade with a concession stand. Additional attractions of Malibu Grand Prix locations included miniature golf, bumper cars, a water play area, batting cages. Of course, kart racing was the main attraction and unlike most go-kart tracks, Malibu Grand Prix ran custom-made two-thirds-scale versions of an Indy style open wheel racecar. Although the cars were billed as F1 thoroughbreds, they were nothing more than clunky, oversized go-karts with fancy fiberglass bodywork. Notwithstanding the aspirational rear wings and slick tires, the short circuits and serpentine layouts capped top speeds at about 40 mph. Wheel-to-wheel competition was strictly prohibited as the intent was the race against the track’s computerized clock and make the fastest laps, but pretty sure enough real racing went down 😉

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
