M&H Racemaster 1952 Vintage Kid’s T-Shirt

M&H Racemaster 1952 Vintage Kid’s T-Shirt

Marvin Rifchin was the man behind M&H Tire Company and the kind of guy that could never say “no” to a racer in need. It was that way since the rubber shortage of World War II when military priorities virtually halted production of the micro-sized inner tubes used by northeastern midget racers. In desperation, they turned to a small tire company in Watertown, Massachusetts. They pleaded with Marvin and his father, Harry – respectively the “M” and “H” of this family business – until Marvin finally relented, cutting, and heat-splicing 16-inch passenger tubes to fit 12-inch midget wheels. before long, other types of racers convinced M&H to build them tires too, and inevitably drag racers started pestering  Marvin for a molded alternative to the recapped slicks then in use. Again, Rifchin gave in, developing a dragster tire from scratch in 1957. Not coincidentally, a then little known Don Garlits began hitting unbelievable 170 MPH runs that very season. For the next two decades and despite heavy competition from major tire manufacturers, ‘Racemasters’ set the Top Fuel bar almost continuously and became the tire of choice for pro racers and casual racing enthusiasts alike.

The original racing slicks for drag racing and other applications were simply recaps of varying quality, but in 1952 things changed when purpose-built, first-run drag slicks were produced, changing the game and upping performance for decades to come.

Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature ‘relic-ing’ process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on premium Gildan 5000B tees, one of the best-wearing kid’s t-shirts available today, via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can’t be accomplished with other printing methods. In short, this youth pro weight tee is perfect for every kid who wants a comfortable shirt to play, relax, or romp around in and our durable, high-quality prints will survive many adventures.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.

Width 16.15
