Penton was a rebadged American brand of off-road enduro motorcycles designed by accomplished motorcycle racer, John Penton. Pentons were manufactured by KTM in Austria for distribution in the United States between 1968 and 1978. Penton put up $6,000 of his own money for KTM would build prototypes to his specifications which would be sold in the United States as Penton motorcycles. The first Penton motorcycles were produced in 1968 and used a modified small-capacity Sachs engine with improved suspension and details. He formed a successful racing team that supported some of the top enduro racers of the era including his son, Jack Penton, who competed in 12 ISDT events as well as Dick Burleson, Carl Cranke, and Billy Uhl. Beginning in 1972 fiberglass gas tanks were introduced and all of the 175 cc and larger models used KTM engines. In 1974, longer travel gas forks with laid-down rear shocks for longer suspension travel, lightweight plastic fenders, and frames of high-grade chromoly steel were introduced. In 1976 two distinct models appeared for the first time differentiating between Motocross use (MC5) and Enduro (Cross County). The MC5 MX series used longer travel leading-axle, magnesium slider forks to complement the high lever-ratio rear suspension configuration making all but the 125 a competitive Motocross model. Production, development, and distribution was taken over completely by KTM Austria after a buyout in 1978. By the time Penton sold the distributorship to KTM in 1978, more than 25,000 Penton motorcycles had been sold in America and his bikes remain popular among collectors and riders even now 50 years later.

Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature ‘relic-ing’ process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on premium Bella+Canvas 3001 Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tees, one of the softest, best-wearing t-shirts available today, via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can’t be accomplished with other printing methods. In short, these shirts are everything you’ve dreamed of and more – it feels soft and lightweight with just the right amount of stretch making it comfortable and flattering for both men and women.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
