Saugus Speedway started out as an 18,000 spectator rodeo arena in Santa Clarita, California named Baker Ranch Stadium in 1927. During the Great Depression, it was sold to cowboy actor, Hoot Gibson, who used the expansive facility for western movie sets. The stadium ended up in default, and William Bonelli purchased it from the bank and renamed it Bonelli Stadium in 1939. Bonelli started hosting open wheel racing on the flat dirt surface, which put the track’s future in motion. The track held regular races until World War II broke out, and was the first circuit on the West Coast of the United States to host a post-war race when it reopened on September 9, 1945. The track was paved in 1946, but the pavement was removed, and the track returned to dirt as midget racing was the national sensation in 1946. The track was paved again in 1954 just as Bonelli fled to Mexico to avoid charges that he had awarded liquor licenses in exchange for bribes. As a result, Bonelli Stadium was renamed Saugus Speedway. The track became mainly used for stock car races including USAC events, the NASCAR Winston West Series, the NASCAR Southwest Tour, and the Craftsman Truck Series among others. Like so many racetracks, after encroaching neighbors started complaining about the noise from the track that they moved next to, the writing was on the wall for Saugus Speedway, leaving them to close up shop in 1995.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
