Spencer Gifts was founded in 1947 in Easton, Pennsylvania by Max Spencer Adler as a mail-order catalog selling an assortment of novelty merchandise. The company would later move to Atlantic City, and in 1963, opened their first retail store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. By the late ’60s, Spencer Gifts had over 450 stores across America, and the gag gifts and oddities had been joined by rock tees, black light posters, and adult novelties. As a result, kids wanted to check out the cool stuff inside, but parents routinely steered them away while passing by in the mall. This design is representative of the ’80s rebrand that most teens from the ’80s and ’90s probably remember.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
