The Uncle Floyd Show 1974 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

The Uncle Floyd Show aired in New Jersey and New York from 1974 to 1998. The show made its debut on UA-Columbia Cable TV of New Jersey on January 29, 1974 and in November 1974 it aired on UHF-TV station WBTB-TV, Newark, broadcasting on channels 68 and 60, which later became WTVG, then WWHT. It can be read as a children’s show or a parody of a children’s show, as much of the humor has a twist aimed at adults, in the style of Soupy Sales and Pee Wee Herman. The show featured character comedy, puppetry, some audience participation, musical guests, and Floyd’s piano playing throughout. One of Floyd’s puppet sidekicks – actually a ventriloquial figure – was named Oogie. His on-air interaction with off-camera staff and sidekicks is somewhat in the style of what modern talk show hosts would later do. The show had a huge following not just with children and their parents, but many local bands and musicians, many of whom appeared on the show at once time or another, some even recording tribute songs to the show.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
