A beloved symbol of ’70s car culture, Pontiac’s Screaming Chicken is the largest and most recognizable decal in automotive history. Pontiac officially called it the ‘Trans Am Hood Decal’ and introduced it as option code WW7 on the 1973 Trans Am. At $55 it was popular and would remain on the pony car’s option list, in one form or another, for over a decade. In 1976, Pontiac’s Firebird brochure referred to the Screaming Chicken as “the available giant Firebird hood decal.” Starting that year the unmistakable graphic was glued to the hood of every Special Edition, Anniversary and Pace Car model Trans Am sold until 1981. Given the long run of this iconic bird, we could have attached any year to it, but it is probably most recognizable to the general public as adorning the hood of the ‘Bandit Trans Am’ from the hit 1977 movie, Smokey and the Bandit.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
