The true story behind Joey Ramone’s Swampwater t-shirt

“Back in 1976, The Show Place was running a promo for a new drink called Swampwater, and we had boxes of t-shirts and mugs that we served the drinks in. Arturo Vega, who was with the band and designed their art work, saw one of the shirts and inquired about them. He ended up trading me a Ramones t-shirt for a Swampwater shirt, then gave it to Joey.” h/t Show Place For Rock
