Dick Trickle once said he needed an hour of sleep for every 100 miles he was racing the next day, and based on his amazing record, his hard rolling sleep formula clearly worked for him. On a related note, several years back, a friend’s team bought one of Trickle’s Busch Series cars that had been mothballed for quite a while and that allowed us to verify a couple of rumors. Inside the old Grand National stock car was a mounted pushbutton 12v lighter and a cubby sized for a pack of smokes. God bless you, Dick, you magnificent bastard.
