This antique celluloid broken face comes from a doll with a sleep eye mechanism still attached. The lead weight (visible at the bottom) falls back when the doll is placed in a lying-down position, causing the eyes to “sleep.” This one also appears to have a side-to-side glancing motion (“flirty eyes”), though I’m not sure how that part works, so let’s just assume it’s demonic in nature.
