It was 9 am on a Saturday, and I was stepping off a plane at the Tijuana International Airport. This is not where I was supposed to be. I had left the United States two weeks earlier en route to Mexico City to meet up with a friend. We intended to drive from Panama to Guatemala, but — as with most things involving bringing a vehicle over international borders — there were complications.
