Mr. Natural, whose full name is Fred Natural, is a character created by legendary underground comix artist Robert Crumb during the 1960s. On the surface, he appears to be a wandering mystic and spiritual guru, dispensing cryptic aphorisms about the absurdities of modern society while preaching the virtues of mysticism and natural living. Having supposedly rejected the material world, Mr. Natural survives largely by trading his questionable nuggets of wisdom for whatever he can get. Bald, bearded, and usually somewhat portly, he wears a simple robe that gives him the appearance of an Old Testament prophet or traditional depiction of God. Mr. Natural first appeared in the underground newspaper Yarrowstalks and quickly found an audience amid the exploding underground comix scene of the late 1960s and 1970s. Equal parts guru, con man, philosopher, and counterculture satire, he became one of Crumb’s most recognizable creations, appearing in publications including East Village Other, Zap Comix, Bijou Funnies, and Yellow Dog.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
