Design Description
Big Muskie was one of the largest machines ever built, a massive walking dragline constructed in 1969 by the Bucyrus-Erie Corporation for the Central Ohio Coal Company. Towering over 20 stories tall and weighing nearly 27 million pounds, Big Muskie was designed to remove strip mining overburden using its enormous 220-cubic-yard bucket - the largest excavator bucket ever made - to move earth with incredible efficiency. Powered by eighteen 1,000-horsepower (746 kW) and ten 625-horsepower (466 kW) DC electric motors, Big Muskie not only big, it was extremely powerful and very good at its job, moving more than 608,000,000 cubic yards (465,000,000 m3) of overburden in Muskingum County, Ohio for more than two decades. Despite being an icon of American industrial power and engineering ambition, a rapid drop in demand for high sulfur coal following the passage of the Clean Air Act in 1977, coupled with increased electricity costs eventually made Big Muskie unprofitable to operate, and it was removed from service in 1991. Despite attempts to sell the mighty earthmover, over the next decade, no buyers were found, and the world's largest single-bucket digging machine ever built was scrapped, though its giant bucket remains on display as a reminder of the scale and impact of coal mining in the region.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
