If you spent any time reading comic books in the late 1960s or early 1970s, chances are you've encountered the legendary ads for the Black Dragon Fighting Society. Founded in 1967 by martial artist John Keehan—better known by his larger-than-life alter ego, Count Danté—the organization became famous through dramatic full-page comic book advertisements that promised readers access to the secrets of the world's deadliest fighting techniques. Billing himself as "The Deadliest Man Alive," Danté offered a mail-order correspondence course centered around his book, The World's Deadliest Fighting Secrets, which came with a complimentary membership in the Black Dragon Fighting Society. Disillusioned with what he saw as traditional karate's emphasis on ritual, etiquette, and ceremony, Danté developed his own combat philosophy focused on practical street effectiveness. This system became known as the Dan-Te System, the Dance of Death, or Kata-Dante. According to Danté, mastering the techniques outlined in his lessons would transform ordinary students into formidable fighters worthy of carrying the Black Dragon name. As for one enduring mystery, despite the organization's title, the "Black Dragon" featured in many of the ads was usually depicted as a white dragon—a contradiction that remains as puzzling today as it was half a century ago.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
