Design Description
When the national media descended on Plains, Georgia, during the 1976 presidential campaign, reporters arrived hoping to learn more about Democratic candidate Jimmy Carter. Instead, they discovered his colorful younger brother, Billy Carter. With his thick Southern drawl, ever-present beer in hand, and larger-than-life personality, Billy quickly became a media sensation. His easygoing charm and memorable one-liners—like, "I got a red neck, white socks, and Blue Ribbon beer"—made him an unlikely celebrity and the perfect foil to Jimmy Carter's earnest public image. Sensing an opportunity, struggling Kentucky brewer Falls City Brewing partnered with Billy in 1977 to launch Billy Beer. Every can featured his signature along with the bold claim, "I had this beer brewed just for me. It's the best beer I've ever tasted. And I've tasted a lot." The marketing campaign generated enormous publicity, but the novelty wore off almost as quickly as it arrived. Billy himself often undermined the brand by admitting after a few drinks that he actually stuck with his 'Blue Ribbon beer' at home. Sales quickly fizzled, and Billy Beer was discontinued in less than a year. Millions of unsold cans remained, with Reynolds Metals reportedly purchasing around nine million empty cans to melt down and recycle the aluminum. Today, Billy Beer remains one of the most famous novelty brews in American history, remembered as a quirky footnote to the Carter presidency and the marketing excesses of the late 1970s.

Size Chart
Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat, and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt lying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1 inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size. ![]()
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.![]()
