Design Description
The King of Rock and Roll died in 1977, but it didn’t take long for one of music’s strangest legends to rise in his wake. In 1978, writer Gail Brewer-Giorgio published Orion, a novel about a famous singer who fakes his own death, and soon afterward singer Jimmy Ellis began performing as the mysterious masked “Orion.” With his dyed hair, flashy jumpsuits, and a voice bearing an uncanny resemblance to Elvis, Ellis played into the mystery, while his record label did little to discourage fans from wondering who was really behind the mask. His 1979 debut album, Reborn, was even pressed on gold vinyl and featured fantastic artwork depicting Orion rising from a coffin. The gimmick worked: Orion landed several songs on the country charts and developed a sizable following on the road. Ellis finally tore off the mask onstage in 1983 and attempted to continue under his own name, but after struggling to maintain the same popularity, he resurrected Orion in 1987. The strange saga came to a tragic end in 1998, when Ellis and his wife were murdered during a robbery at Jimmy’s Pawn Shop in Selma, Alabama, bringing the story of one of rock and country music’s most unusual alter egos to a close.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
