Design Description
Pulgasari is a 1985 North Korean kaiju fantasy film loosely inspired by the Korean legend of the Bulgasari. Directed by acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Shin Sang-ok, the movie carries one of the strangest backstories in cinema history. Shin and his wife, actress Choi Eun-hee, were kidnapped by North Korean agents in 1978 under orders from Kim Jong-il and forced to make films for the regime. Pulgasari would become Shin’s final North Korean production before the couple dramatically escaped in 1986. The film follows a giant iron-eating monster created from rice and blood by an imprisoned blacksmith. Initially helping oppressed peasants overthrow a cruel emperor, Pulgasari eventually becomes a threat itself as its endless appetite consumes the tools and resources the people depend on to survive. Beneath the monster-movie spectacle lies a surprisingly sharp allegory about power, control, and revolution spiraling out of hand. Despite its bizarre origins, Pulgasari is an entertaining and unexpectedly well-made kaiju film, thanks in large part to Shin Sang-ok’s filmmaking talent under extraordinary circumstances.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
