This custom Corvette-based monstrosity showed up on Facebook Marketplace and definitely falls into the category of ‘it’s so bad, it’s good.’ It’s got a face only a mother could love, and that dual wheel steering system looks like an accident waiting to happen. I love it. Here’s the full description from the FB listing:
1960s Mad Max Custom Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. No title. Car is from New York, where titles aren’t required pre-1970. Bill of sale will be provided. The frame is from a 1960 corvette convertible. The engine and body are fully customized. VIN: 0.0867.S.104218. I wanted to restore and get running as is. but I am too tall. (6-1) The frame is worth the asking price. Buy a ’60 tub, and you have a $60-80k car.
The story is this was built in the late ’60s by Marty Seigel, who at that time was doing consulting work for GM. Everything on this car was the top racing had to offer in the late ’60s and early ’70s. Four speed manual transmission. Hand formed one-off fiberglass body that incorporates a steel roll bar. Modified 327 CID engine with full show dress. Side exhausts.
There is a weird “Dual Wheel” steering system (drive by putting hands on top of wheels and moving them back and forward, like riding a bicycle.) I have been told this is easy to swap back to a normal steering wheel. Has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power vent windows, power motorized doors with push button control. Aero wing trunk mounted dual batteries (for additional traction), black bucket seat interior.
Car hasn’t been driven in years and needs a restoration. There is no title. Will consider trades for silver or gold bullion or crypto. Check it out while it lasts >
