Design Description
Speed Racer, originally known in Japan as Mach GoGoGo, began as a manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuo Yoshida and serialized in Shueisha’s Shōnen Book beginning in 1966. The series was adapted into an animated television show in 1967, with 52 episodes airing in Japan between April 1967 and March 1968. An English-language version reached American television around the same period and became one of the earliest Japanese anime series to develop a significant following in the United States. The story follows teenage race-car driver Speed Racer as he competes in dangerous races and embarks on globe-trotting adventures behind the wheel of the gadget-filled Mach 5, a powerful racing car designed by his father, Pops Racer. Along for the ride are Speed’s girlfriend Trixie, his mischievous younger brother Spritle, Spritle’s pet chimpanzee Chim-Chim, and the mysterious masked driver Racer X, who is secretly Speed’s estranged older brother Rex. With its wild racing sequences, colorful characters, outrageous villains, and futuristic automotive gadgets, Speed Racer became an enduring piece of both anime and American pop culture.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
