Located in West Oakland, Golden West Brewing Company was Oakland’s biggest and longest-running brewery. Beginning as Washington Brewery in 1891 and ending their run as Pacific Brewing in 1959, they operated under various owners and names, though Golden West Brewing Company was the one they retained for the longest time. The brewery produced a number of beers under various company-owned labels, including Bull’s Eye, which was purported to be one of the cheap beers of the time popular with the working man and day drinkers alike.
