Captain Fantastic 1976 Pinball Wizard Vintage T-Shirt

 

The ‘Capt. Fantastic’ pinball machine was inspired by the big screen rock musical, ‘Tommy’ which is best summed up by IMDB in a single sentence: ‘A psychosomatically deaf, dumb and blind boy becomes a master pinball player and, subsequently, the object of a religious cult.’ Sound absurd? Yeah, it’s pretty freakin’ out there. Nonetheless, Bally saw their in and created the Capt. Fantastic pinball machines which included a representation of EJ, as his character from the movie, The Pinball Wizard, while simultaneously tying into his latest album of the same name.

 

The backglass included several depictions of people doing things that escaped notice by Bally management before being caught mid-production. A small number of games with these so-called “X-rated” or “uncensored” backglasses made it through production before changes were required to be made. Specifically, small mirrored stars were added over the objectionable parts and, curiously, these stars did not effectively obscure the offending art in all instances. The X-rated version is often referred to as the “no stars” version even though all of the backglasses in the production run did contain a certain number of peripheral decorative stars anyway. This design is based on the “no stars” version, though not every naughty bit made the cut 🙂

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
