Germfree Adolescents 1978 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

English band X-Ray Spex was one of the first punk bands not only fronted by a woman, but by a biracial woman, whose stage name was Poly Styrene. With Styrene leading the group, X-Ray Spex brought a different, more expansive, and inclusive, Punk message and sound to the masses. X-Ray Spex’s music was not the fast, aggressive punk that many of their counterparts in the scene were creating. Rather, the band offered a more snarky, socially aware sound that was upbeat and contained pop stylings that connected with new wave music. Germfree Adolescents is the band’s 1978 debut album that contained the UK hit singles “The Day the World Turned Dayglo” (No. 23 in April 1978), “Identity” (No. 24 in July 1978), and “Germ Free Adolescents” which reached No. 18 in November 1978.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
