O’Clery’s Place 1947 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

When you think of New Orleans, Irish heritage doesn’t typically come to mind, but the quaint Irish Channel neighborhood was shaped by immigrants from Ireland who settled there in the 1830s. At that time, it was known for its shotgun homes, working-class community, and the ports and breweries where many residents worked. In the 1940s, third-generation Irish American Connor O’Clery realized there wasn’t a proper Irish bar in the neighborhood, and set out to change that by opening O’Clery’s Place. The Magazine Street bar featured beers on tap from both local and national breweries as well as several from the motherland. When O’Clery’s expanded in the ’50s, they added a full kitchen and began serving up traditional Irish dishes like Dublin coddle and Irish stew. By the time the ’70s rolled around, O’Clery’s Place had become a favorite of New Orleans tourists wanting to get away from Bourbon Street, but despite maintaining a full bar every night of the week, O’Clery’s threw in the towel in the late ’80s marking an end of an era.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
