Beginning in the 1840s, British colonists imported camels from regions including the Canary Islands, India, and Afghanistan to help explore and supply Australia's vast, arid interior. More than 2,000 Afghan cameleers arrived alongside the animals, creating a transportation network that became essential to outback life for decades. Camels hauled freight, carried supplies, and opened routes through some of the continent's most unforgiving terrain until trucks and motor vehicles gradually replaced them in the 1930s. With thousands of camels remaining and their working days largely behind them, camel racing emerged as a uniquely Australian pastime. What began as informal competitions evolved into a highly organized sport, celebrated at events such as the Bordertown Camel Cup in South Australia, an annual event that pays tribute to the camel's remarkable role in Australia's history.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
