Design Description
Marquee Moon, the debut album by New York rock band Television, was released on February 8, 1977. In the years leading up to the record, Television had become one of the defining acts of New York’s emerging downtown music scene, regularly performing at CBGB and attracting attention from several record labels before signing with Elektra. Recorded at A&R Recording in New York during September 1976, Marquee Moon stood apart from much of the punk rock developing around the band. Rather than relying on blunt power chords, guitarists Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd constructed intricate, interlocking parts influenced by rock, jazz, and improvisation, combining melodic leads and counter-melodies with lean, hook-driven songwriting. Verlaine’s impressionistic lyrics drew inspiration from bohemian and French poetry, using wordplay and imagery of adolescence, discovery, transcendence, nighttime streets, and the geography of Lower Manhattan. Although sales were disappointing in the United States, the album received widespread critical acclaim and found greater commercial success in the United Kingdom. Its reputation only grew in the decades that followed, with Marquee Moon becoming widely regarded as a landmark of 1970s rock and a major influence on post-punk, indie rock, and alternative music.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
