Design Description
American Motors Corporation built automobiles from 1954 through 1988, and while AMC produced its share of memorable machines, the company is often remembered for some of its more unconventional offerings. By 1979, models like the Spirit, Pacer, Eagle, and Concord populated AMC showrooms, none of which received much respect from performance enthusiasts at the time. Hidden among them, however, was the Spirit AMX, a sporty throwback to the original AMX muscle car that had debuted a decade earlier. The 1979 Spirit AMX wasn't merely an appearance package. Along with its aggressive bodywork, bold graphics, spoilers, and distinctive wheels, the AMX received a rally-tuned suspension and could be ordered with a four-speed manual transmission and AMC's 304-cubic-inch V8. Unfortunately, this was the height of the Malaise Era, and emissions regulations and fuel-economy concerns had strangled the 304 down to roughly 125 horsepower. That didn't stop enthusiasts from waking up the little V8 with traditional performance modifications—or simply swapping in a larger AMC V8. It may not have possessed the brute force of its 1968 namesake, but the Spirit AMX offered buyers a surprisingly entertaining performance car at a time when genuine American muscle was becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature ‘relic-ing’ process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on premium Bella+Canvas 3001 Unisex Jersey Short Sleeve Tees, one of the softest, best-wearing t-shirts available today, via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can’t be accomplished with other printing methods. Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.
