3 Wheelin ATV 1981 Vintage Kid’s T-Shirt

In 1970, Honda introduced their US90 or ATC90 (All Terrain Cycle). The movie Diamonds Are Forever and the TV shows Magnum, P.I. and Hart to Hart helped spur on its popularity. It was 100 percent recreational use only and incorporated large balloon tires instead of a suspension. The ATC70 provided fun for kids and in 1979 the ATC110 opened up the throttle. Honda’s ATC250R, sold in 1981, is considered the first high-performance three-wheeler with full suspension and a five-speed transmission. In 1982 Honda unveiled the ATC200E Big Red, a landscape changing model featuring suspension and racks giving it the distinction as the first utility three-wheeled ATV. The next year, Honda marketed the handling-friendly ATC200X to beginners. Throughout the 80s there was a 3-wheeler craze and they were a common sight most anywhere dirt bikes were ridden. Despite their popularity with adults and kids alike, they all suffered from a few nasty traits. Most commonly, riders who are used to a bicycle or motorcycle would most likely lean the wrong way in a turn, put their leg out for balance, and then run over their leg. The second biggest issue was their ability to tip in canted situations as again, their center of gravity and overall dynamic didn’t quite behave as one might expect them to. Nonetheless, they were a blast to ride and if you didn’t break a bone or die, you probably have fond memories of tearing it up on one.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
