JATCO – Janesville Auto Transport Co. 1960 Vintage Men’s T-Shirt

Founded in 1923 in Janesville, Wisconsin as W.R. Arthur Co. to serve the massive Janesville GM plant, JATCO had five owners and transported millions of vehicles over hundreds of millions of miles. In 1960, Arthur sold the company to Edmund Brady, who renamed it Janesville Auto Transport Co., or JATCO, as it was commonly known. National City Lines acquired the company in 1970 and sold it seven years later to Ryder Systems. Ryder sold it in 1997 to the Atlanta-based Allied. For most of its history, the operation handled outbound and inbound shipments of vehicles by both truck and rail. Workers drove locally built products to the massive yard, where vehicles were assigned to outgoing loads or mixed with incoming deliveries for shipment to dealerships. Opened in 1919, Janesville was the oldest operating GM plant when it was largely idled in December 2008, and ceased all remaining production in April 2009 at which point Allied shuttered their operations locally as well.

Not sure what size is your best fit? We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our tees are all made using premium, pre-shrunk, ring-spun cotton, there can be some shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you’re on the fence, we always suggest going up a size.
